Who are we?

Lively-Net is a not-for-profit educational computer facility located in Central United Methodist Church on the corner of Second St. and Seaway Dr. in Muskegon, MI. Our goal is to educate individuals in the Muskegon County, teaching skills necessary for modern communication and business with the use of computers.

Classes are taught primarily by Lynn Lively and volunteers from the local University community. Students have volunteered their time and expertise from the initial idea of the lab to the present. All instruction, operation, marketing and maintenance of the lab is provided through volunteered time by students interested in serving their community.

How do we operate?

Lively-Net is funded entirely through donations. Originally founded with retired and refurbished computers donated from individuals and companies as well as money provided by Lynn & Lisa Lively and Central United Methodist Church community education initiative, Lively-Net now seeks donations to ensure the continual education of the Muskegon County Community. Why do we teach? (And who teaches?)

The volunteers of Lively-Net give their time because they see a need in the community. As computers continue to penetrate deeper into the everyday lives of our culture it is vital that people learn to harness the capabilities they provide. Individuals with little or no computer experience are frequently confused, or even intimidated, by computers and do not know where to begin learning. That is why Lively-Net was created.

The mission of Lively-Net is to bring new computer users to a comfortable level where they can explore the world of computers on their own. Although we are located in a Central United Methodist Church we are open and encouraging to people from all walks of life. Regardless of race, creed, culture, level of education, or financial status we encourage anyone curious about computers to join us in learning.
